LANCE Mokuau

Professor Mokuau is a second degree black belt under Professors Mike Buckles and Scott Carr.   A life-long martial artist and grappler his journey started at Leeward Judo under the esteemed Tsuruo Fukushima where he medaled in both state and national competitions and earned his brown belt before leaving for college.  In 2007 Professor Mokuau returned to the mats and joined Gracie Barra Costa Mesa where he earned his black belt in 2017.  For nearly 2 decades at GB Costa Mesa Professor Mokuau has continued to perpetuate his first sensei’s favorite lesson of ongaeshi or the spirit of giving back.

Off the mats Professor Mokuau is a father, husband and avid surfer.   He is also an advocate for indigenous rights and donates his time to education focused charities such as such Ke Ali’i Pauahi Foundation and LA’s Promise.
